What was your first paying job?

I grew up babysitting and working in a small family-owned restaurant in my small town. I was one of the few employees who was unrelated to the family! It was fun but mostly humbling.

What kind of music do you like? What's the best concert you've been to?

I love all kinds of music. The best concerts I've attended recently were LCD Soundsystem, Charli XCX, and a Satanic ABBA cover band (shout out BAAB!)

Do you like traveling? What's the best place you've traveled to?

I LOVE traveling! Live to travel! I spent a year in Thailand after graduating college, but my favorite place I've ever been to is Hanoi, Vietnam. I couldn't stop smiling my entire time there.

What's the most exciting part of your job?

The most exciting part of my job is connecting with my colleagues or clients. That feeling of mind-melding, like we're on the same wavelength, finishing each other's sentences, feeding off each other's energy... there's no better feeling.

Are you a sports fan? Who are your favorite teams?

YES. I'm a huge NBA fan. I am a Pelicans season ticket holder and love to watch all the games I can. I also love to stay plugged in for all the drama.

What's your favorite thing to do on the weekends?

On the weekends, you can often find me unwinding with a crafty project or going on a long walk with my dog, Fig. I'll probably be out with friends in the evenings listening to music or dancing!

  • Business Manager

What sort of duties do you have at work?

At Outside In Design Studio I am one lucky person, and not in the cheesy "my coworkers are my family" kind of way. I get to combine what I learned from 10 years of working with small businesses with our incredible design team’s creative ingenuity to help make branding and business development magic. I’ll be the first to admit, my skill set is not glamorous; my resume is a relative bore at parties. I push spreadsheets, help write contracts, and game plan our marketing initiatives. But what I love about Outside In, is that we each have a talent that we bring to the table and each talent is appreciated. We show up for each other and work as a team. I help manage projects and our designers fulfill the briefs, and together, we produce quality work for our clients.

What was your first paying job?

I got my first summer job at 15 when I reached a breaking point waiting for my Mom to give me my chore money. I worked that hot, glorious, and simultaneously miserable summer at a BBQ restaurant as a dishwasher. It sucked, but the freedom to spend my cash was worth scrubbing the 5 gallon pots of baked beans. (Also, I love BBQ.)

    Do you have any pets?

I have the best of the good boys in the whole wide world Toby. He’s a nine year old Golden Retriever and Border Collie mix who loves Dad first, ball second, and getting into the kitchen third. Toby has been with me through thick and thin and I love that fluffy hair monster more than anything.

    What motivates you at work?

At work, I’m motivated by being a team player. I enjoy working with others and accomplishing goals as a unit. I get a lot of pride when my work contributions make life a little easier or better for my teammates.

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

I love when people say that I have pretty eyes. :) Especially because I wear thick glasses and have eyebrows that could be considered a variety of perennial bush by some scientists.

What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?

I love being with my crew of New Orleans friends on the weekends. Dancing, eating, gabbing about our lives; there’s nothing better than rolling out with a crew. When my extroversion needs a break, you’ll find me kayaking a nearby swamp or reading a fantasy/fiction book in my boyfriend’s garden.

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

A pot, a machete, and my boyfriend Gabe. :)

  • Lead Graphic Designer

What sort of duties do you have at work? Creating logos, websites, building out brandings, and social media designs.

What was your first paying job? I was a sandwich wrapper at Quizno’s. I was a wrapper for my first job.

Do you like traveling? What’s the best place you’ve traveled to? I love traveling. Road trips are, I think, the best way to travel when possible. I took a road trip from Indiana to Alaska and saw so much of our country and Canada. It was mind-blowing and unforgettable. Another road trip that ties with my Alaska road trip was a month-long one starting in L.A., then up the Lost Coast, stopping in Portland, Olympia, Seattle, Glacier, and Zion, and ending back in L.A.

Do you have any pets? I have a derpy Black Lab/Sliver Weimaraner mix and a vampy little black cat—my little angel and demon, as I call them.

Are you a sports fan? Who are your favorite teams? I’m not the biggest sports fan, but growing up outside New Orleans, I did not know of any sports team other than the Saints. So who dat for life, baby.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be an artist. In sixth grade, we had to write a paper on what we wanted to be, and I chose artist. My teacher made me change my career because, in her words, “Artists don’t make a living.” So every day when I’m designing or painting (as my career,) I think back to that teacher and love that I get to prove her wrong.
