Off to a Solid Start

In late 2019, I was contacted by Louisiana Youth Ultimate, a statewide 501(c)3 organization that organizes youth ultimate frisbee sports leagues, tournaments, camps, and clinics for girls and boys ages 11-18. Initially, our work consisted of a logo and identity package. We spent several weeks going through each step of the design process, refining logo concepts and discussing feedback. The final logo design is simple and emblematic of their core focus, and aimed directly at their target audiences. They were thrilled with the result!

From Rebranding to Full Website Build

A few months after receiving the final logo files, LYU reached out again to inquire about a website. They did not have the time or wherewith-all to manage a full website build, and in the meantime, had built something that wasn’t working for them. Our initial conversation included a website ‘audit,’ in which I went through their existing online presence (web and social media) and gave them my notes. I also included research of ideas gleaned from some of their competitors. Once they heard all of my ideas for how they could improve their site, they hired me to rebuild it. I sent them a Site & Content Inventory document to fill in with all of the pertinent information I would need to build their site.

 

Website Rebuilding Process

Since I had designed their logo and branding myself, I was more than knowledgeable of their brand identity and had lots of ideas from the jump. I showed them a few preliminary options in the form of “Style Tiles,” which are simple 1-page sheets showcasing a web design concept that includes typography, photography treatment, color palette, and button styling. After they chose a Style Tile, I got to work designing a site map, which consisted of all of the web page architecture for their digital content, and then phased out small portions of the build along a timeline. After some feedback and minor tweaks, I got started creating mock ups of actual web pages and then built their website based on those mockups. Next Phase: Social Media Strategy & Rollout

Outside In Design Studio served as the Marketing and Content Strategist for the non-profit organization Louisiana Youth Ultimate from February to October 2021. During this time, the studio was responsible for developing and executing marketing campaigns and strategies to raise awareness about the organization and its mission. This involved creating engaging content, managing social media accounts, and developing materials such as flyers and posters. Through their efforts, Outside In Design Studio helped increase the visibility of Louisiana Youth Ultimate and successfully engaged with its target audience. The partnership between the two organizations was a great success and helped lay the foundation for future growth and impact for Louisiana Youth Ultimate.
